Our Founders

Martin Baker QPM

Martin is co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer of The Safeguarding Company (formerly known as One Team Logic).

Martin is a former chief police officer whose 38-year career spanned five UK police forces, including significant spells in counter-terrorism in London and in homicide investigation. As a chief officer, he was responsible for all aspects of safeguarding and child protection and managed the risks posed by violent and sexual offenders living in the community.

His most recent policing role was as Chief Constable of Dorset Police. During his time in charge, his officers and staff delivered eight consecutive years of crime reduction and achieved national ‘best in class’ public confidence — the highest of any police force in England and Wales. In 2006 he was awarded The Queen’s Medal for Distinguished Police Service (QPM).

Martin is an experienced school governor in both primary and upper schools and is currently a director of a multi-academy trust.

Recently, Martin has led the company through a period of rapid growth which saw us shortlisted in the 'Wales Fast Growth 50 Awards' in 2019 and 2020, and has overseen our transition from One Team Logic to The Safeguarding Company in 2021.

Mike Glanville

Mike is one of the founding members of the company and former Chief Safeguarding Officer at The Safeguarding Company.

Mike had a varied career in the police service and up until 2012 was the Assistant Chief Constable with Dorset Police. As a young detective, he was a Child Protection Officer, a role that involved the investigation of serious and complex child abuse cases. Later on, as Head of CID he was responsible for all aspects of adult and child safeguarding matters in the force and led on a number of critical incidents and major crime investigations. Mike worked very closely with the statutory agencies and chaired the Local Criminal Justice Board as well as representing the police on the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board.

As the Chief Safeguarding Officer Mike has responsibility for ensuring that the latest best practice on safeguarding and child protection is integrated into the range of products and services delivered by The Safeguarding Company. He oversees all aspects of safeguarding training, using his knowledge and experience to support the development of high-quality courses that support front-line practitioners across a wide range of sectors.

Mike is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences/events on the subject of safeguarding and child protection. He is also an experienced school governor and is currently the Chair of Governors at a primary school in West Dorset.

Darryl Morton

Darryl is our third founding member and former Chief Technology Officer. He started his career in the IT and telecoms sector with 6 years at telecommunications company, NTL, followed by a 3-month stint in Mongolia as a project manager for a charity.

Upon returning to the UK, he set up Logic Software, a software development company, and spent the next 18 years growing the business, acquiring a range of blue-chip clients including British Airways, Associated British Ports, PHS, Sepura, the Smiths Group, Rockwool and NHS London. Darryl brought his entrepreneurial spirit and experience of developing award-winning enterprise-level software to The Safeguarding Company.

Most recently, he has been focused on compliance issues to guarantee the security of the data that The Safeguarding Company processes on behalf of its customers and establishing a number of operational and administrative teams to support the rapid growth of the company and the customer base. Darryl has steered the company to achieve the ISO9001, ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications and GDPR compliance.

Outside of work, Darryl is a retired amateur American Football player, but now an active referee. He has been privileged to officiate at some important games, including Great Britain versus Spain and in 2017 was an officials’ assistant at two NFL games in London.
