Meet The Team

Our Safeguarding Trainers

Lead by our Chief Safeguarding Officer, Mike Glanville, the team develops and delivers a wide range of CPD Accredited courses incorporating the latest thinking, best practice guidance and relevant legislation. Each of our trainers is an experienced safeguarder with a background of working in education, early years, local authorities or policing.

Natasha Lawrence

I have always been passionate about safeguarding children and protecting those vulnerable within our society. During my policing career I specialised in sexual offences and interviewing vulnerable adults and children. As a detective on the Child Abuse Investigation Team, I completed advanced interview courses and specifically interviewing sex offenders (CEOP).

As an Acting Detective Sergeant on the Safeguarding Referral Unit, I managed incoming referrals around adults and children and requests under Sarah’s Law, working closely with partner agencies.

I finally qualified as a Police Trainer and was instrumental in creating a new Joint Interview (ABE) course and delivering safeguarding and sexual offences training to new police recruits and trainee detectives.

Today I manage the Safeguarding Training Team for The Safeguarding Company and am proud to be part of such an amazing company continuously striving to improve safeguarding practices.

My spare time is taken up by my family, including my two dogs, and long walks in the beautiful county of Dorset.

Adele Barry

My experience is within Childcare and Early years working within Local Authorities and Welsh Government, with my area of expertise being child development, quality standards, early intervention, and safeguarding. I also teach and assess adults going into Childcare.

Working for The Safeguarding Company is about making a difference, protecting children and vulnerable young adults which has been the key focus throughout my working career.

In my own time I enjoy listening to music, attending concerts and singing loudly (and quite badly) to Stereophonics with family and friends

Debbie Gardner

I retired from South Wales Police in 2017 after completing 30 years’ service.  During my career I became an accredited Detective working on the Criminal Investigation Department in Cardiff until 2001.

I became the lead for Rape and Serious Sexual Offences writing Force Policy and developing the Sexual Assault Referral Centre to improve services for children and adults.  Following promotion to Detective Sergeant, I worked in the Public Protection Department within the Vulnerable Adult team.

I worked closely with members of the Cwm Taf Safeguarding Board to develop the first Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) in Wales.

Following my retirement, I have worked as an independent trainer, and now as a trainer for The Safeguarding Company, and have delivered training in all areas of safeguarding.  In my spare time, I like to keep fit and enjoy long walks along the coastal path with my family.

Zoe Jarvis

I am a mum to two teenage children. My career with The Safeguarding company started in sales, then the training department and I'm now part of the Safeguarding Team.

Before joining the company I worked in a residential EBD school, as a supervisor and cover manager for the Youth Offending Team and I was a Designated Safeguarding Lead in a local Middle School.

Safeguarding has always played a huge part in my work and I am very passionate about the protection and wellbeing of young people. I am very proud to work for a company that has safeguarding at the forefront of everything we do. I am currently undertaking a Counselling course to develop my skills. I hope to continue with this as far as I can, as hopefully, it will be of benefit to the team and another string to my bow.

Alistair Telford

I have worked with The Safeguarding Company since 2016 when I was a Safeguarding Consultant; providing training and support to Schools, Colleges and other organisations involved in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

As a former police officer with over 30 years of police service in Investigation; Managing Intelligence; Training; Professional Standards and other General Police Duties, I have a wide experience of involvement in Safeguarding matters.

Outside of work I am married with 2 grown-up children. I like to keep fit and enjoy golf, cycling and walking. I have also recently taken up learning to play the guitar but finding that difficult to master.
