Our Safeguarding Trainers
Lead by our Chief Safeguarding Officer, Mike Glanville, the team develops and delivers a wide range of CPD Accredited courses incorporating the latest thinking, best practice guidance and relevant legislation. Each of our trainers is an experienced safeguarder with a background of working in education, early years, local authorities or policing.
Safeguarding Manager
Natasha Lawrence
Natasha manages our Safeguarding Team and is a former police detective and trainer.
I am passionate about safeguarding children and protecting those vulnerable within our society. During my policing career I specialised in sexual offences and interviewing vulnerable adults and children. As a detective on the Child Abuse Investigation Team I completed advanced interview courses including interviewing sex offenders (CEOP).
As an acting Detective Sergeant on the Safeguarding Referral Unit I managed incoming referrals around adults and children working closely with partner agencies.
I qualified as a Police Trainer and was instrumental in creating a new Joint Interview (ABE) course and delivering safeguarding and sexual offences training to new police recruits, trainee detectives and social workers.
Today I manage the Safeguarding Team and proud to be part of such an amazing company continuously striving to improve safeguarding practices. I am a qualified Mental Health First Aider, NSPCC Train the Trainer and currently working toward my NSPCC Certificate of Competence for Trainers in Safeguarding and Child Protection.
My spare time is taking up by my family, including my two dogs, and long walks in the beautiful county of Dorset.
Safeguarding Trainer
Adele Barry
Adele is a Safeguarding Trainer assessor for those entering the Early Years and Childcare sectors.
My background is working within the Early Years and Childcare sector, working within Local Authorities, with Care Inspectorate Wales and Welsh Government implementing quality standards into settings and working closely with non-maintained settings to raise their standards.
I worked within Social Services promoting early intervention, developing partnership working and overseeing the implementation, recording, and training of the Foundation Phase and WellComm toolkits. I have delivered training throughout Wales in safeguarding and child development before joining The Safeguarding Company as a Safeguarding Trainer, I also continue to work as an assessor for those entering the Early Years and Childcare sectors.
Working for The Safeguarding Company is about making that difference, protecting children and vulnerable young adults which has been the key focus throughout my working career.
In my spare time I enjoy listening to music, attending concerts, and singing loudly and quite badly to Stereophonics with family and friends.
Safeguarding Trainer
Debbie Gardner
Debbie is a retired Detective Sergeant who worked within the Vulnerable Adult team in the Public Protection Department.
I retired from South Wales Police in 2017 after completing 30 years’ service. During my career I became an accredited Detective working on the Criminal Investigation Department in Cardiff until 2001.
I became the lead for Rape and Serious Sexual Offences writing Force Policy and developing the Sexual Assault Referral Centre to improve services for children and adults. Following promotion to Detective Sergeant, I worked in the Public Protection Department within the Vulnerable Adult team.
I worked closely with members of the Cwm Taf Safeguarding Board to develop the first Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) in Wales.
Following my retirement, I have worked as an independent trainer and have delivered training in all areas of safeguarding. In my spare time, I like to keep fit and enjoy long walks along the coastal path with my family.
Zoe Jarvis
Safeguarding Trainer
Zoe our Safeguarding Trainer, formerly worked in the Youth Offending Team and as Middle School DSL.
I am mum to two teenage children. My career with The Safeguarding Company started in sales, then the training department and I am now part of the Safeguarding Team.
Previously, I worked in a residential EBD school, as a supervisor and cover manager for the Youth Offending Team and I was a Designated Safeguarding Lead in a local Middle School.
Safeguarding has always played a huge part in my work and I am very passionate about the protection and wellbeing of young people. I am very proud to work for a company who have safeguarding at the forefront of everything we do. I am currently undertaking a Counselling course to develop my skills and I am a qualified Mental Health First Aider.
Safeguarding Support Agent
Alistair Telford
Alistair is a former police officer with over 30 years of police service with wide experience of involvement in Safeguarding matters.
I have worked with The Safeguarding Company since 2016 when I was a Safeguarding Consultant; providing training and support to Schools, Colleges and other organisations involved in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
As a former police officer with over 30 years of police service in Investigation; Managing Intelligence; Training; Professional Standards and other General Police Duties, I have a wide experience of involvement in Safeguarding matters.
Outside of work I am married with two grown up children. I like to keep fit and enjoy golf, cycling and walking. I have also recently taken up learning to play the guitar but finding that difficult to master.
Training Co-Ordinator
Bethanie Savage
Bethanie is key to co-ordinating our Safeguarding Training Team.
I live in a lovely seaside town in Dorset with my four year old Daughter. I am based in our Dorchester office, working as a training co-ordinator within the Safeguarding Team.
Before joining The Safeguarding Company, I worked in retail part time whilst completing my Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care and my Bachelors Degree in Childhood Studies, Early Years and Education.
Alongside this I spent two years doing work experience as a teaching assistant in a lovely Primary School close to home. Outside of work I like to spend my spare time with my family, being outdoors and exploring with our friends, as well as dancing, sea swims, paddle boarding and lots of quality time with my daughter.
Chief Safeguarding Officer
Mike Glanville
Mike is the Chief Safeguarding Officer at The Safeguarding Company and is one of the founding members of the company.
I was a former senior police officer with over 30 years of experience in both child and adult safeguarding. In the early part of my career, I was a child protection officer responsible for investigating serious allegations of child abuse and later on as an Assistant Chief Constable I worked very closely with the statutory agencies tackling a wide range of public protection issues and sat on the Local Children's Safeguarding Board.
In my current role I have responsibility for all aspects of safeguarding services including training and customer support. I am also a Chair of School Governors and the co-author of ‘Lessons will be Learned’ a recently published book on transforming safeguarding practice in education.
