Safeguarding In Multi-Academy Trusts: Adopting A Strategic Approach

Posted Date

1st September 2021

Our Strategic Safeguarding Model sets out eight key principles for safeguarding.

By taking a more strategic approach, a MAT should be in a much better position to anticipate safeguarding risks and potential harm before they arise.

It’s important that you are taking an approach that brings together all aspects of safeguarding activity into a single framework. Our Strategic Safeguarding Model sets out eight key principles for safeguarding that provide the foundations for effective safeguarding practice in any setting. These elements combine to help foster a culture of safeguarding and promote a consistent and well-coordinated approach to your safeguarding practice. Whilst the model can be interpreted as a cyclical, clockwise process, you will see that all of the principles are interconnected which reflects the reality of safeguarding; this is not a step-by-step process to simply follow.
